The Power of Topps Now: Cards that Capture Historic Moments and Hold Value Forever

Life is all about moments. Being a fan is  all about moments. Topps Now aims to capture these moments ensuring that they will live on forever and form a unique part of anyone's personal collection. We love this and have been very focused on certain Topps Now cards from day one...

The historic 2021 season. Topps Now started doing Formula 1 back in 2020. The second series reported on the historic 2021 season climaxing during the final Abu Dhabi race. Max Verstappen's first championship will go down in history as one of the biggest and most intense moments in sports. Five Topps Now cards were dedicated to this event: #80-#84.

Golden boy Max. We have never been so lucky to pull a randomly distributed 1/1 card from our Topps Now orders. One day we will. But we have been lucky enough that friends from "the hobby" from all over the world were willing to help build our collection of early Max cards. We own three out of five of the iconic cards shown above. Plus an outlier: #85 picturing the Red Bull team. Of this card a red /10 never surfaced. In our opinion, this gold card is actually the best looking card of the bunch...

The epic clash. A true movie scenario unfolded in 2021. Two drivers at exactly 369.5 points with only one race to go.... The card itself is not the most beautiful, but the intensity of the rivalry can be felt in the photos that Topps chose. Both  faces looking out in different directions... Max is sweating because it is Hamilton who has the momentum and has caught up, after Max having lead comfortably most of the season. The /10 version is very dark, adding to the drama.. An amazing card that we will keep in our personal collection forever.

Iconic people and debuts. Sometimes Topps Now cards hit the visual nail on its head. The parallel color suddenly matches the driver or team and creates a very appealing overall spectacle. The Norris /10 orange parallel is a perfect example. Attractive in a different way is the purple Lewis Hamilton helmet shining beautifully in the /10 black background. Rookies tend to appear first as Topps Now cards, often as a driver in F2 or F3. Despite not  having the official Topps "RC" stamp, this Logan Sargeant card is considered to be his very first. The 1/1 suddenly appeared on a European auction website and we were quick to jump on it. Formula 1 is craving for a successful US driver. The question is if  Logan can live up to this ....

Topps little tricks. Topps is not known as the most innovative or creative company in the world  but now and again they present us with a little surprise. Some of these can go unnoticed. Here is an example. Pictured below are two /10 parallel versions of the same card showing Verstappen crossing the line as winner at the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix. One is dark blue as were all /10 parallels that year.  The other one is a Dutch flag rainbow-foil version. We imagine there are ten of each version but we are actually not 100% sure...

2023 revival of Topps Now. The 2022 Topps Now cards are less popular than the 2021 cards. Partially because of the historic season that 2021 was, but also because of the design. All colored parallels, blue, red and even gold were dull. The color filter of the parallels weakened the visual impact of the captured moment. How different is this in 2023. Colors are vibrant and, the lower the print run is, the cooler the card looks. That is how it should be. We are therefore back in the Topps Now game and will feature a couple gems soon in a separate  blogpost and in our shop. Meanwhile, we have over 100 numbered Topps Now parallels available in our shop, of which half are /10 or lower as well as many PSA10-graded base cards for your collection. Enjoy the moment(s)!
